Basketball Game Preview: Orono Riots vs. Dexter Tigers

Orono hasn't had much luck against Dexter recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Orono Riots will look to defend their home court against the Dexter Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Orono is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They took a 49-30 bruising from Calais.

Meanwhile, Dexter was beaten by Penobscot Valley 65-21 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Howlers are ranked first).

This is the second loss in a row for Dexter and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Orono, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Orono came up short against Dexter in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 26-16. Can Orono avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
