Softball Recap: Summers County Comes Up Short

Summers County scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against the Midland Trail Patriots, falling 19-4. The Bobcats were not able to make up for their defeat to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Summers County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Cales, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another was Keyonna Mcguire, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Summers County's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Midland Trail, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

The future could be bright for both Summers County and Midland Trail: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Bobcats will try to hand Princeton their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Midland Trail will look to extend Shady Spring's three-game losing streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
