Recap: Strong Rock Christian Patriots vs. St. Mary's Academy
The Strong Rock Christian Patriots scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 69-36 victory over St. Mary's Academy. Given Strong Rock Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while St. Mary's Academy is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Zack Phillips was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five assists and two steals. Phillips is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Upton, who scored 14 points.
Strong Rock Christian's win bumped their record up to 15-2. As for St. Mary's Academy, they bumped their record down to 5-5 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Strong Rock Christian will square off against Westfield School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Brookstone at 11:30 a.m. on January 20th. Brookstone is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
