Softball Game Preview: Western Beaver Golden Beavers vs. Mars Fightin' Planets

The Western Beaver Golden Beavers will head out on the road to face off against the Mars Fightin' Planets at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Western Beaver and four for Mars.

Beaver hit Western Beaver with a four-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Beavers lost 13-6 to the Bobcats.

Kaitlyn Zele (2025) was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Bella Colatriano (2026) also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Mars' offense. They came up short against Shaler Area on Wednesday, falling 10-0.

Paige Lauten was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off ten hits.

Mars' defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Western Beaver, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Western Beaver might still be hurting after the 11-4 defeat they got from Mars in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Beavers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
