Softball Game Preview: Wooster Colts vs. Fernley Vaqueros

Wooster is 0-4 against Fernley since March of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Wooster Colts will be playing at home against the Fernley Vaqueros at 10:00 a.m.

Wooster is headed into Saturday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 18-1 to Elko.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fernley). They never let Sparks get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Vaqueros, who have now won three games in a row.

Ximena Rodriguez was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Taylor Tollestrup, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Fernley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .688. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Fernley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wooster, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
