Baseball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Victorious

Venice typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Riverview Sarasota proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 4-1. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Indians back in March, they had to take a 9-1 defeat.

Riverview Sarasota got a great performance from Morgan Peggs as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Peggs is becoming a predictor of the Rams' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 2-15 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alastair Simonson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Riverview Sarasota's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Venice, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-3.

Looking ahead, Riverview Sarasota will take on Island Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Venice, they will square off against La Mirada at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Matadores have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
