Basketball Recap: Valley Vista Comes Up Short

Valley Vista was the 64-55 winner over Tolleson when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Valley Vista Monsoon fell to the Tolleson Wolverines 59-54. The Monsoon's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Tolleson was led to victory by Rico Blassingame and Johnny Rogers. Blassingame dropped a double-double with 25 points and ten boards, while Rogers went 7-for-13 to rack up 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Blassingame's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tafuma Abston, who posted six points and six boards.

Valley Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 4-20. As for Tolleson, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 11-13.

Valley Vista has already played their next game, a 55-41 loss against Shadow Ridge on the 12th. As for Tolleson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-37 defeat against West Point on the 12th.
