Basketball Game Preview: Ben Lomond Scots vs. Green Canyon Wolves

Two dominant guards in Jaerdan Vanbeekum and Jude Haigh are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Ben Lomond Scots will take on the Green Canyon Wolves in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Ben Lomond came up short against Taylorsville and fell 66-55. The Scots were down 59-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Deshawn Holland, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Campos, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Green Canyon put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Box Elder by a score of 73-60. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Bees are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Green Canyon's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.9 points per game. As for Ben Lomond, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Ben Lomond might still be hurting after the 72-48 loss they got from Green Canyon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Ben Lomond avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
