Basketball Game Preview: Portal Panthers vs. Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs

The Portal Panthers and the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

On Friday, Portal was beaten by McIntosh County Academy 53-22. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Emanuel County Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Bryan County, falling 57-31. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Redskins are ranked 108th).

Portal now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Emanuel County Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Portal won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Emanuel County Institute 36-35. Does Portal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Emanuel County Institute turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
