Baseball Game Preview: Mishawaka Cavemen vs. Wawasee Warriors

Mishawaka has gone 7-2 against Wawasee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cavemen will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 5:30 p.m. Wawasee took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mishawaka, who comes in off a win.

Mishawaka came out on top against Plymouth on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Cavemen had just enough and edged out the Pilgrims/Rockies 8-7. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavemen.

Mishawaka got a great performance from Colton Handley as he pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Handley has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Shawn Nowacki was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Hartzke, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Wawasee fell victim to Warsaw and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 12-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

Wawasee's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Mishawaka, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Mishawaka's way against Wawasee in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Mishawaka made off with a 24-0 win. Do the Cavemen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
