Baseball Recap: Lena-Winslow's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Lena-Winslow entered their tilt with Durand/Pecatonica on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Rivermen with a sharp 14-4 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-5 on Tuesday.

Maverick Cass was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Lena-Winslow got a massive performance out of Aiden Wild, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cohen Weegens was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lena-Winslow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in four consecutive games.

Lena-Winslow's record now sits at 17-6-1. As for Durand/Pecatonica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

Lena-Winslow will head out to challenge Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Durand/Pecatonica, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hiawatha at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.72 runs per game on average), something the Rivermen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
