Baseball Recap: Lyons Beats Glenbard West for Their Second Straight Victory

After losing to Glenbard West the last time they met, Lyons decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lions never let the Hilltoppers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Monday. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Jack Slightom tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lou Ratcliffe was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also put up a home run, which was his first of the season. Blake Ragsdale was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Lyons and bumps their season record up to 8-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Glenbard West, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Lyons will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hilltoppers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
