Softball Preview: Cedaredge Bruins vs. Durango Demons        
        
		
                                                         After three games on the road, Cedaredge is heading back home. They will host the Durango Demons  at 3:00  p.m.  on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  both  will really light up the scoreboard.
 Last Saturday,  everything went Cedaredge's way against Basalt as Cedaredge made off with  a  17-4 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Bruins this season.
  Tia Homedew was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only two  hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Homedew was also big at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
 In other batting news, Cedaredge got a  massive  performance out of  Kiera Stroh, who  went 2-for-4 with two  triples, four  RBI, and two  runs. Another player making a difference was  Meri Hollembeak, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cedaredge  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with eight  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've posted since  back in August of 2023.
 Meanwhile, Durango was able to grind out a solid  victory over Montezuma-Cortez on Tuesday, taking the game  11-8. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Demons.
  Jenna Glueck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned  (and three unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
 On the hitting side, Durango got a  massive  performance out of  Avery Clair, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of  Megan Downey, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances.
 Cedaredge now  has a winning record of 3-2. As for Durango, their win  ended  a  four-game drought at home  dating back to last season and  bumped them up to 3-4.
Durango's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them:  Cedaredge has been making plenty of contact this season,  having  averaged 11  hits per game. It's a different story for Durango, though, as  they've been averaging 10.9. Given Cedaredge's sizable advantage in that area, Durango will need to find a way to close that gap.
