Basketball Recap: Haywood Gets the Win

If Bolton wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Haywood, they should've done a better job of containing Antrell Jones. The Haywood Tomcats enjoyed a cozy 93-77 victory over the Bolton Wildcats on Tuesday thanks in part to Jones, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points in addition to seven assists and seven steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.

Lekendric Phillips was another key player, going 10 of 15 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and three steals. His evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

When it comes to explaining why Bolton lost, don't look at Kylan Collins. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Collins is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahsad MacLin, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points and six boards.

Haywood now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Bolton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haywood will welcome Bolivar Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Haywood is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.3 points per game this season. As for Bolton, they will face off against Fayette Ware at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fayette Ware knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Bolton likes a good challenge.
