Football Game Preview: West Holt Huskies vs. Sandhills Valley Mavericks

The West Holt Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Sandhills Valley Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

West Holt's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against South Loup on Friday. They were beaten by South Loup 28-0. The Huskies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Sandhills Valley played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 68-12 defeat at the hands of Ravenna. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Bluejays are ranked 20th).

Although Sandhills Valley took the loss, they still got scores from Ezekiel Goosey and Cotter Johnston.

Sandhills Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for West Holt, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

West Holt came up short against Sandhills Valley in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 32-24. Thankfully for the Huskies, Leyton Connell (who rushed for 65 yards and three scores, and also threw for 113 yards and one TD) won't be suiting up this time.
