Recap: Caledonia Fighting Scots vs. Grand Haven Buccaneers
If the Caledonia Fighting Scots were feeling good off their 82-50 takedown of the West Ottawa Panthers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Caledonia took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Haven on Monday. Caledonia has struggled against Grand Haven recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Caledonia's loss came despite strong showings from Kyan Vanderwoude and Jaiden Googins. Vanderwoude scored 22 points along with six rebounds, while Googins scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Raffler, who scored seven points.
Caledonia has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season. As for Grand Haven, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caledonia will square off against Forest Hills Northern at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grand Haven, they will head out on the road to square off against Calvin Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Calvin Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 394th, while Grand Haven is ranked 125th).
