Washington states its case for the No. 1 ranking as others vie for the top spot.
It is getting awfully tight near the top of the Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
No. 1 Washington closed out its season with a state title-winning victory over Bolles, but its spot atop the rankings is not locked in. Allen and St. John Bosco both notched impressive victories over the weekend and could have two significant games left to play.
DeSoto and De La Salle remain in the hunt as well, looking to state their cases with two potential games left.

Xcellent 25 National Football Rankings presented by the Army National Guard
1. (1) Washington (Miami), 14-0Washington closed out its perfect season with a 40-21 victory over Bolles.
2. (2) Allen (Texas), 14-0Allen rolled into the 5A-I semifinals with a 48-13 win over Westfield.
3. (3) St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), 14-0With its second victory of the season over Mater Dei, St. John Bosco claimed a Pac-5 title.
4. (4) DeSoto (Texas), 13-0Game postponed until Monday.
5. (5) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 13-0The Spartans took home the North Coast Section Division I title with a 49-17 win over California.

6. (6) Northwestern (Rock Hill, S.C.), 15-0With a victory over Stratford, Northwestern put the exclamation point on a superb season.
7. (7) Central (Miami), 12-1Without star running back
Joseph Yearby, Central held off previously unbeaten Mainland 28-15.
8. (8) Mountain Pointe (Phoenix), 14-0Season complete. Division I state champion.
9. (9) Katy (Texas), 14-0Katy walloped Manvel 56-14.
10. (11) Bellevue (Wash.), 14-0Bellevue captured its sixth-straight state title with a 52-20 win over Eastside Catholic.

11. (17) Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), 14-1Moeller survived a shootout against Mentor, winning 55-52 and capturing a Division I state title.
12. (12) Hoover (Ala.), 15-0For the second year in a row, Hoover took home Alabama's Class 6A title, this time defeating Auburn 20-3.
13. (13) St. Joseph Regional (Montvale, N.J.), 10-1St. Joseph claimed its third-straight state title with a dominant 62-14 win over Pope John XXIII.
14. (14) Mallard Creek (Charlotte, N.C.), 15-0With a victory over Butler, Mallard Creek advances to the 4AA state title game against Wake Forest.
15. (15) Jenks (Okla.), 13-0Game postponed until Dec. 12.

17. (20) Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), 14-0Dwyer handed East Lake its first loss of the season, 31-24, earning a spot in the Class 7A title game in the process.
18. (18) Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas), 13-2Randall Cunnigham Jr. accounted for five total touchdowns to help Bishop Gorman defeat Reed (Reno) 49-14 and capture its fifth-straight state title.
19. (19) Blue Springs (Mo.), 14-0Season complete. Division 6 state champion.
20. (21) Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), 14-0Season complete. Division 2 state champion.

22. (25) North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.), 13-1North Gwinnett advanced to the Class 6A title game with a win over McEachern.
23. (NR) Oscar Smith (Chesapeake, Va.), 14-0Oscar Smith will play for the Division 6 state title against Centreville after beating Colonial Forge
24. (NR) Karr (New Orleans), 13-1Karr is playing its best football of the season, dominating the 4A playoffs. Its only loss was a five-point setback to John Curtis.17-0.
25. (NR) Central Catholic (Pittsburgh), 15-0Central Catholic has opened some eyes around the country with back-to-back victories of more than 40 points.
