Football Recap: Caney Creek Comes Up Short

Caney Creek might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was New Caney who claimed the real prize. The Panthers had to suffer through a 38-7 loss at the hands of the Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 663rd, while the Eagles are ranked 278th).

A big part of New Caney's win came down to the chemistry between PAYTON LOPEZ and his top target BRAYDEN LOGAN. LOPEZ rushed for 71 yards and a pair of touchdowns while LOGAN picked up 108 receiving yards and two TDs. Those two receiving touchdowns gave LOGAN a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Caney Creek and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for New Caney, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Coming up, Caney Creek will venture away from home to square off against Conroe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Caney, they will welcome The Woodlands at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games.
