Softball Recap: Bonny Eagle Scots vs. Scarborough Red Storm

Bonny Eagle can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Scarborough Red Storm out 9-7. For Bonny Eagle, this counts as revenge for the 15-1 defeat Scarborough walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Reese Bryant made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Bryant was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Madison McGlinn was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

On Scarborough's side, they got a massive performance out of Samantha Cote, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jamie Kemper, who went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

Even though they lost, Scarborough was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. That's the most doubles they've managed all season.

Bonny Eagle made their fans wait, but they earned their first win of the season to make their record 1-3. As for Scarborough, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bonny Eagle will take on Kennebunk at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Scarborough, they will be playing at home against Biddeford at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Scarborough is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
