Softball Game Preview: Lawrence Lancers vs. Dracut Middies

Lawrence hasn't had much luck against Dracut recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lancers will venture away from home to square off against the Middies at 4:30 p.m. Lawrence has given up an average of 15.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lawrence is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Andover, falling 13-1.

Meanwhile, Dracut had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Scarlet Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Middies have posted against the Scarlet Knights since April 29, 2018.

Dracut's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Lawrence might still be hurting after the 21-5 defeat they got from Dracut when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
