Basketball Recap: Sturgis West Takes a Loss

Sturgis West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 51-25 to the Cape Cod Academy Seahawks. The Navigators were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.

Cape Cod Academy was led to victory by Mike Berry and Harrison Lauf. Berry dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards, while Lauf went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points and three steals. What's more, Lauf also posted a 60% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in February of 2024. Cody Tolley was another key player, putting up eight points.

Sturgis West's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cape Cod Academy, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sturgis West will square off against Falmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cape Cod Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dennis-Yarmouth Regional at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
