Kennedy Fauntleroy named 2020-21 MaxPreps Maryland High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year

Junior guard led New Hope Academy to 13-3 record, No. 17 national ranking.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2020-21 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence, in addition to local and state accolades.

Kennedy Fauntleroy of New Hope Academy (Landover Hills) is the 2020-21 MaxPreps Maryland High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year. The 5-foot-8 junior guard led New Hope to a 13-3 record and the No. 17 ranking in the MaxPreps Top 25.

Fauntleroy averaged 16.4 points, 4.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game while shooting 38.3 percent from 3-point distance. She also had an impressive 4.3 assist/turnover ratio.

Fauntleroy has made a verbal commitment to Georgetown.



Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which will be announced April 20.
