Basketball Recap: Cherryville Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Highland Tech came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Cherryville, but Raylei Gidney wouldn't allow it. The Cherryville Ironmen managed a 44-39 win over the Highland Tech Rams on Tuesday thanks in part to Gidney, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Cherryville's points.

Another player making a difference was Krista Davis, who posted eight points along with seven assists and six steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played.

Highland Tech's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madeline Letts, who scored ten points. Akela Taylor was another key player, putting up nine points.

The victory made it two in a row for Cherryville and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Highland Tech, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Cherryville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-48 win against Piedmont Community Charter on the 17th. As for Highland Tech, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-45 defeat against Bessemer City on the 17th.
