Softball Game Preview: Dixie Flyers vs. Hurricane Tigers

Dixie is 2-8 against Hurricane since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Flyers will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Dixie will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Friday, Dixie got the win against Pine View by a conclusive 11-2. That's two games straight that the Flyers have won by exactly nine runs.

Brenlie Phelps made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Chesney Robbins was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Staheli, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Dixie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine View only managed six hits.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Hurricane was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Timpanogos by a score of 3-2.

Dixie pushed their record up to 10-13 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Hurricane, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Dixie came up short against Hurricane in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 11-7. Can the Flyers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
