Basketball Preview: Academy of Richmond County Musketeers vs. Salem Seminoles
The Academy of Richmond County Musketeers will head out on the road to take on the Salem Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Academy of Richmond County stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-37 victory over Hephzibah at home. Given Academy of Richmond County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Rebels are ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Salem came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Harlem 81-50 on the road.
Academy of Richmond County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Salem, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-9.
Academy of Richmond County skirted past the Seminoles 56-54 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Academy of Richmond County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
