Baseball Recap: Midland's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Midland waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars with a sharp 15-6 win. That's more bragging rights for the Timberwolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gavin Traver made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Dom Rosa was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Elsasser, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Midland now has a winning record of 8-7-2. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Midland will be playing at home against Stark County at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Timberwolves are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, they will take on Galva at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.57 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
