Basketball Game Preview: Thornton Wildcats vs. Agricultural Science Cyclones

The Thornton Wildcats will square off against the Agricultural Science Cyclones at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Thornton ended up a good deal behind Bloom and lost 70-55. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Blazing Trojan are ranked 85th).

Meanwhile, Agricultural Science had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came within a single point of losing the streak, but they secured a 27-26 W against the Jaguars.

Agricultural Science pushed their record up to 10-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.0 points over those games. As for Thornton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-13.

Everything came up roses for Thornton against Agricultural Science in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-23 win. Will Thornton repeat their success, or does Agricultural Science have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
