Baseball Recap: Orion Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Orion). They put the hurt on the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans with a sharp 18-2 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Bryan Peterson and Griffen Tennant made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Peterson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Tennant pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Peterson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, while Tennant scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Ethan Hamerlinck was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Max Larson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Orion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bushnell-Prairie City only posted an OBP of .105.

Orion's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orion will face off against Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bushnell-Prairie City, they will square off against Delavan at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
