Basketball Recap: Spruce Creek Comes Up Short

Spruce Creek has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. 2025 welcomed they with an 80-57 loss courtesy of the Ponte Vedra Sharks on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hawks have suffered since January 27, 2024.

Ponte Vedra's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Katsikas, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Katsikas a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trace Westercamp, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Spruce Creek's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Ponte Vedra, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 10-3.
