Maryville posted their closest win since September 26, 2024 on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the East Buchanan Bulldogs, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Spoofhounds, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Maryville was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-9, 20-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Abigail Bowe paced Maryville's offense, picking up 22 kills. Bowe got some help from Charlotte Davison and her 25 assists. Channing Minton controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

East Buchanan's loss came despite strong showings from Maggie Whitt and Kaylynn Engnes. Whitt had 39 assists and nine digs, while Engnes had 12 digs and one assist. Engnes is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.

Maryville's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for East Buchanan, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Maryville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Shenandoah on the 6th. As for East Buchanan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Lathrop on the 6th.
