Recap: Coventry Comets vs. Woodridge Bulldogs
The Coventry Comets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Woodridge 58-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coventry in their matchups with Woodridge: they've now lost five in a row.
Coventry's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madison Burkhart, who scored seven points, and Ava Burkhart who scored four points. Burkhart scored a full 28% of Coventry's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Coventry's loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. As for Woodridge, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Coventry will head out on the road to face off against Garfield Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Garfield Heights presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Coventry in Ohio (Garfield Heights is ranked 347th, while Coventry is ranked 721st). As for Woodridge, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Springfield at 7:00 p.m.
