Basketball Recap: Monument Valley Takes a Loss

Monument Valley lost against Bryce Valley back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Monument Valley Cougars took a blow against the Bryce Valley Mustangs, falling 74-28. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-7.

Despite the loss, Monument Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Caleb Cly went 5 of 12 on his way to 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for Cly.

Zaren Roberts was a one-man wrecking crew for Bryce Valley as he went 7 of 9 on his way to 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodolfo Perez, who went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Monument Valley and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Bryce Valley, they moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Monument Valley will take on Many Farms in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bryce Valley, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-57 victory against San Juan on the 14th.
