Basketball Recap: St. Margaret's Comes Up Short

St. Margaret was the 62-58 winner over University when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The St. Margaret's Tartans took a 72-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Trojans. The Tartans were up 23-7 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

University's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Evans led the charge by going 8 of 16 en route to 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shervin Moarrefian, who went 6 of 15 en route to 19 points and three steals.

St. Margaret's is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11. As for University, they moved to 4-11 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Margaret's will host Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Margaret's is facing Woodbridge at the right time seeing as Woodbridge is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for University, they will welcome Laguna Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Laguna Beach's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
