Basketball Game Preview: Pius XI Catholic Popes vs. Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings

Pius XI Catholic has won three straight games at home, while Wisconsin Lutheran has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Pius XI Catholic Popes will host the Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Pius XI Catholic blew past West Allis Central, posting an 88-7 victory. The Popes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Lutheran strolled past Shorewood with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 84-65. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 227th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wisconsin Lutheran has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Pius XI Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
