Softball Recap: South Eugene Takes a Loss

South Eugene extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 12-6 to the Willamette Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, with their most recent defeat being a 14-3 loss on Saturday.

As for Willamette, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-9. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Willamette's part, Kynslee Mauch was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Mauch a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alissa Ferre, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, South Eugene will venture away from home to challenge North Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Axe's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Black Tornado have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Willamette, they will square off against South Medford at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
