Softball Recap: Genoa-Kingston Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lutheran on Monday, Genoa-Kingston came back down to earth. The Cogs lost 14-5 to the Rock Falls Rockets on Tuesday. The Cogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rockets earlier this season, when they won 11-3.

Genoa-Kingston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elizabeth Davis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Lily Stiles also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Genoa-Kingston has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14-1 record this season. As for Rock Falls, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-18.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Genoa-Kingston will take on rival Byron at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Rock Falls is set to challenge their familiar foe Dixon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
