Basketball Recap: Kings Mountain Gets the Win

If South Point wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Kings Mountain, they should've done a better job of containing Kee'Donn Linney. The Kings Mountain Mountaineers took down the South Point Red Raiders 71-57 on Friday thanks in part to Linney, who went 7 for 15 on his way to 20 points. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of J'Myun Huskey, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times he's played.

South Point lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being OB Lowery Jr., who went 6 of 14 on his way to 18 points. Jaishawn Woods was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Kings Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Point, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Kings Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-54 victory against Bandys on the 14th. South Point will take on East Gaston in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
