Baseball Preview: Minarets Mustangs vs. Liberty Hawks
The Minarets Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Minarets will be strutting in after a victory while Liberty will be coming in after a loss.
While Minarets has not struggled against Yosemite recently, they managed to flip the script on Thursday. Minarets walked away with an 8-4 win over Yosemite. The victory was just what Minarets needed coming off of a 12-4 defeat in their prior contest.
Mason Medina made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Medina has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Medina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Jaydon Von Wagner was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Torin Wolf was another key contributor, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Liberty unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fowler. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Liberty has scored all season.
Liberty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyce Perez, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Minarets' win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-14. As for Liberty, their loss dropped their record down to 18-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both teams have some strikeout artists on the roster. Minarets has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Liberty struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Thankfully for Minarets, Dylan Whiteman (who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time.
