Preview: Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers vs. Carmel Corsairs
Joliet Catholic is on a five-game streak of home losses, Carmel a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers will take on the Carmel Corsairs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Joliet Catholic pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-56 to Morris. While losing is never fun, Joliet Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Morris is ranked 169th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Abby Dulinsky, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Emma Birsa was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds.
Carmel suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were dealt a 53-24 defeat at the hands of Nazareth Academy.
Joliet Catholic has not been sharp recently, as they've lost 12 of their last 15 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
