Hillsboro starts off right with win over Viroqua

Hillsboro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Viroqua Blackhawks 4-3. For Hillsboro, this counts as revenge for the 7-6 loss Viroqua walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Jaelyn Bloor spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Michelle Hora was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kiana Liska, who got two hits from her three at bats.

Hillsboro will be playing at home against Kickapoo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Viroqua, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on De Soto at 5:00 p.m. on April 22nd.
