Softball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

If Hilltop was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of San Diego on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers fell 6-1 to the Chula Vista Spartans on Wednesday. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Hilltop saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Natalie Wood, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Hilltop dropped their record down to 12-12-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Chula Vista, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilltop will challenge Mar Vista at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chula Vista, they will take on Olympian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
