Basketball Game Preview: Greenfield Yellowjackets vs. Hickman County Falcons

After both having extra time off, the Greenfield Yellowjackets and the Hickman County Falcons will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Hickman County heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Greenfield took over last week. Greenfield pulled ahead with a 39-38 photo finish over Peabody two weeks ago. The team accrued 31 points in the first half and coasted on those for the win.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hickman County). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Pope County 40-38. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 190th in Kentucky, while the Pirates are ranked 482nd in Illinois), the result last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Greenfield is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Hickman County, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.
