Wilmot is 9-1 against Badger since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Badgers at 4:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wilmot has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Badger will arrive with four straight victories.
Wilmot came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Burlington by a score of 5-3 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Panthers have suffered against the Demons since May 2, 2022.
Sarah Josko made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Taylor Walter also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Badger). They put the hurt on Janesville Craig with a sharp 12-5 win on Monday. The Badgers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2024 (when they won 12-0).
Miah Butinas made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Butinas was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Badger let Kaela Zapadinsky and Lilly Butinas run wild. Zapadinsky went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Butinas went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Claire Polyock was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
Badger lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more home runs.
Badger's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Wilmot, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Everything went Wilmot's way against Badger in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Wilmot made off with an 8-1 victory. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Badgers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
