Basketball Game Preview: North Little Rock Charging Wildcats vs. Central Tigers

North Little Rock and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The North Little Rock Charging Wildcats will take on the Central Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

North Little Rock's tournament run continued when they took on Jonesboro on Saturday. North Little Rock took a 68-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jonesboro. While losing is never fun, the Charging Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Hurricane are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Central came tearing into Saturday's matchup with five straight wins and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Tigers to the tune of 64-30. That 34 point margin sets a new team best for Central this season.

Central pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for North Little Rock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

North Little Rock won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Central 57-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Little Rock since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
