Baseball Recap: Green Bulldogs vs. Lake Blue Streaks
Green had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 5-5 to make it four. They came up short against the Lake Blue Streaks, falling 16-2. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Streaks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.
As for Lake, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Considering they have won five games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Lake's part, Joe Woodin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Woodin has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three runs.
In other batting news, Lake let Alex Quior and Anderson Alacchi run wild. Quior went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Alacchi fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. Those three hits gave Quior a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Pribanich, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Green will host Riverside at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Beavers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Lake, they will square off against Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
