Basketball Game Preview: Regents Academy Eagles vs. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm

The Regents Academy Eagles will take on the Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Regents Academy has three straight victories, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy has 24 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Regents Academy will head into Tuesday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 25) and last Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged Trinity School of Texas out 36-34.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-16, which was the final score in Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's tilt against King's Academy on Tuesday.

Regents Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-20.

Regents Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Athens Christian Preparatory Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 67-57. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's Landry Gammon, who went 10 of 15 en route to 26 points along with seven blocks and six steals. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for Regents Academy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
