Baseball Preview: Narragansett Mariners vs. Chariho Chargers

Narragansett and Chariho are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Narragansett Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Chariho Chargers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Narragansett will be strutting in after a win while Chariho will be coming in after a loss.

Narragansett is headed into the match fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Burrillville with a sharp 7-0 victory on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Jackson Hohl made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Hohl was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Aidan Clancey looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Finn Jennings was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Zachary Previte, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Chariho's offense. They lost 6-0 to Prout on Thursday.

The victory made it two in a row for Narragansett and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Chariho, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Narragansett was able to grind out a solid win over Chariho when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 6-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Narragansett since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
