Basketball Recap: Azusa Takes a Loss

Azusa was the 42-35 winner over Duarte when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Azusa Aztecs lost to the Duarte Falcons at home by a 43-26 margin on Tuesday. The contest marked the Aztecs' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Defeat or not, Azusa got some senior leadership from Adam Sanchez and Antoine Cueller-Morgan. Sanchez posted eight points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Cueller-Morgan went 5 for 12 on his way to 11 points. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played.

Azusa's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Duarte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.

Azusa has already played their next contest, a 39-35 win against Baldwin Park on the 23rd. As for Duarte, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-53 defeat against Sierra Vista on the 23rd.
