Baseball Game Preview: Spotsylvania Knights vs. Caroline Cavaliers

The Spotsylvania Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Caroline Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Spotsylvania will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Spotsylvania got the win against James Monroe by a conclusive 11-1. Fans of the Knights have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

The team relied heavily on Josh Perez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jake Herbst, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Spotsylvania always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Caroline was able to grind out a solid victory over Thomas Dale last Tuesday, taking the game 6-1.

Alex Thomas was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Jackson Thomas also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Spotsylvania's record is now 3-0. As for Caroline, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Spotsylvania has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caroline struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.8 strikeouts.
