Baseball Game Preview: Palmyra Cougars vs. Lower Dauphin Falcons

Palmyra and Lower Dauphin are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Cougars will take on the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Palmyra comes in on 15 and Lower Dauphin on five.

On Thursday, Palmyra had just enough and edged out Carlisle 5-3.

Brayden Bown tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Willard, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Nate Osteen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Lower Dauphin never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Shippensburg. The Falcons not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 14-1).

Palmyra pushed their record up to 15-0 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Lower Dauphin, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.

Palmyra beat Lower Dauphin 8-5 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
